What began as a small time industry for an enterprising individual, importing bicycles under the Lumala brand from Japan, grew steadily and robustly as time went by. Based on sheer hard work and a reputation for excellence in both technical advances and customer service, it soon grew to City Cycle Industries, manufacturing high quality bicycles in 1985.
Since then, the company went from strength to strength with a growing sales network that currently covers the entire country and a distribution fleet that encompasses a modern fleet of trucks; thus smooth operations for the regional offices and the aligned agents.
As with all industrious organizations, our ride did not stop, rather it picked up momentum; the product quality and sheer determination ensured that we entered the lucrative Middle Eastern and African markets in 1998 , which in turn gave us the confidence and the ground work needed to enter the European markets in year 2000. Further, the SAFTA agreement between the South Asian countries, facilitated our export of bicycles to India (one of the most competitive and largest bicycle markets in the world). We believe that the quality, innovation and the attention to details during manufacturing will ensure that Lumala cycles will a common sights on the crowded Indian roads.
Manufacturing
In order to ensure and consolidate the reputation earned, we have enforced stringent quality control and assurance methods. The base materials and vital components are sourced directly from Japan (including renowned and reputed organizations like Shimano), while our tyres are a world renowned Sri Lankan brand, DSI tyres and tubes which have ensured safety and reliability on the road for generations. From frame to the final packaging, each step is quality inspected and is made sure to be in line with international safety and product performance standards.
